Canon Used: Well, it's all within The Sandman universe! The comics started as The Sandman series by Gaiman, but Lucifer got his own spin-off series, accurately called Lucifer. The two comics are hand-in-hand, really. But I'm taking him from the continuity of the Lucifer series, obviously.

Appearance:
Lucifer is, naturally, a handsome man. He's an angel, after all. In fact, it's said that he is the most handsome angel. That seems to be true enough. He has golden blond hair and eyes and very perfectly sculpted features. Like, "this is what ancient Grecian artists wanted their statues to look like"-perfect. He has a pair of large, white, angel's wings, though he can will them away or to appear at any time.

He's a suave bastard

Psychology:
First of all, forget everything that you know about Lucifer. Because, really, it's a matter of what you think you know.

Lucifer is an Angel that rebelled against The Creator, that much is true, and sure, he is the Lord of Hell, but that's where the Truth stops. Lucifer does not tempt people, he doesn't make people do anything, he just sat upon his throne as the Lord of Hell, watching his demons war against each other with an idle boredom. Nothing more, really. He's just doing what his Dad made him.

This, in part, is Lucifer's ultimate motivation. At some point in his rule, he became bored, and eventually decided to rebel again and leave. But he found, even then, he was stuck in the rut of his life that his father created. Lucifer battles with the ideas of fate, destiny, and "free-will", since ultimately, he wonders if God has his whole existence planned out until the very end. It doesn't sit well with Lucifer. He likes control, and wants to be in control. So he went and created his own cosmos to escape the rules of his own.

It's pretty funny, actually, because you could almost paint him as a teenager rebelling against authority, specifically his father. It just so happens that his father is the ultimate authority. Lucifer, as the third most powerful being in the universe, after only his brother and God, has grown accustomed to the control, influence, and power he holds, and would hate to lose it. Yet, in his rebellion, he is not searching for more power. Lucifer is simply searching for the ultimate freedom. He feels as if he's completely subject to God's will, and he wishes to be subject to only his own will, and make decisions on his own and be in control of his own destiny.

This motivation drives him, and while it's a central point of who he is, it's rarely ever displayed for others to see. Instead, people that meet Lucifer meet a charming, suave, handsome bastard. He's more clever than even Loki the Trickster, and while he does not tempt souls, he can easily get them to do his bidding with his mere wit. But contrary to popular belief, Lucifer never lies. Instead, he tells the complete, utter truth, since that is enough to motivate almost anyone.

Dispelling another myth, Lucifer holds no disdain for any creature as a whole. That's not to say he loves them either. He has developed a kind of indifference to all life. He does not see people as good, bad, human, not-human, whatever. They are only what they are, and he does not hate or judge them for it. You could almost say that he's the ultimate humanist, but it'd be hard to convince anyone of that. Yet the only person he shows any affection towards is Mazikeen, a Lilim that stayed by his side in Hell for eons. They were once lovers, but now walk on separate paths. However, they are close enough to confide, somewhat, in each other. Otherwise, Lucifer will not get close to any living creatures.

However, that's not to say he doesn't like them, like I said. He enjoys humans' creations especially, since they've created many interesting things to him over the years. He's learned first hand of many of them, I imagine, since most inventors and innovators tend to end up in Hell, so I can only imagine that Lucifer wanted to talk to the souls that interested him. He mingles with humans with no qualms or problems, and likes their society well enough to open a bar for them.

And, naturally, he has all the traits that would come with being who he is. He's an arrogant son of a bitch, and is reluctant to believe any kind of prophecy against him. Because pfft, he's Lucifer, he'll always come out on top. He has an ego the size of Hell and he's quite the narcissist. After all, it's said of all the angels, Lucifer was the wisest, most handsome, and most powerful of them all. He quite likes that distinction too.

Yet, despite his flaws and being a douche, Lucifer does abide by his own, established honor code. Like I said, he refuses to lie (since it's beneath him), keeps his word, and always pays back his debts. That might be because he wants to dispel some of the myths of being who he is, since these myths annoy him. He doesn't mind being thought badly of, obviously, but Lucifer holds truth in high regard.

Other Skills/Abilities:
In a sense, Lucifer abilities include everything ever. Lucifer the third most powerful being in the universe, only behind God and his brother Michael. He's able to twist and bend reality and time, create new universes, fly, produce fire, anything you can think of, really. He can do it.

Other Weaknesses:
...None? The only thing that even hurt him was when some powerful beings messed with probability, screwing him over by default.
Just kidding, he kind of has one. Lucifer's wings are the source of his infinite power, so if they're cut off, he's weakened. He's still pretty damn powerful, but you can kill him.

History:
Lucifer has a history as long as time itself. Luckily, I can condense about 50 billion years of it into about three sentences.

Here we go.

Lucifer and Michael were bros and made the universe by God's will, but Lucifer didn't like the shit going down in Heaven, meaning nothing. So he rebelled against God, and his bro had to smite him, and Lucifer fell into Hell. So Lucifer rulled over Hell for the rest of time for his punishment, and shit was pretty cash, actually.

That was easy enough. Now let's get to what happens in the series. So we start off with The Sandman.

Morpheus is the personification of Dream, one of The Endless. However, he was imprisoned by a mortal, and lived for about one hundred years as his kingdom decayed in his absence. Three precious sources of power were also taken from him. One he escaped his prison, he sought to reclaim them. One of his items, his "crown" (which is a really fugly thing) fell in the hands of one of the lesser demons of Hell. Of course, entering Hell uninvited was treading into Lucifer's domain, so Morpheus approached it carefully. However, Lucifer humored the Lord of Dreams, and allowed the lesser demons and Morpheus to engage in a verbal duel. Morpheus won, naturally, but he also manages to piss off all of Hell before he leaves. Lucifer vows to kill him because oh fuck no you do not humiliate Lucifer.

However, in one of the oddest acts of irony, Morpheus decides to return to Hell not long after. After being scorned by his siblings for banishing a woman to hell for 10,000 years because she would not become his Queen (bitter much?), his siblings convinced him that this was over-reacting. As such, he decided to return to Hell so that he could free his old lover, Nada. However, when he arrives, Lucifer comes to meet him, telling him that he quit. For real. They talk as Lucifer locks up Hell before they leave, since he had already banished the demons and souls there elsewhere, and their conversation ends with an exchange. Lucifer gives Morpheus the key to Hell, and thus the lordship over it, and Morpheus does Lucifer a favor by cutting off his wings.

Morpheus eventually met with many Gods and spirits seeking the ownership of Hell, but eventually, God himself intervened and it was a pair of angels that took over Hell. Duma, the angel of silence, and Remiel, who is set over those who rise, took over Hell, much to Remiel's chagrin. Lucifer, however, went to Perth, Australia for a while, and admitted that sunsets were pretty cool, yeah. After that, he moved to Los Angeles and started a bar, Lux, which he plays the piano at and owns.

At this point, we dive into the series of Lucifer, and the plot lines are a little complicated, so bear with me as I introduce the key players.

One of the most important people to Lucifer, in a way, is Mazikeen, who is of a race descended from Lilith. She helps him out a lot, and is important later. There's also Jill Presto, a cabaret worker. Jill is possessed by the Basanos, who are a living tarot deck. Elaine Belloc is the son of Michael, through nothing less than crazy magic, so she's an Archangel.

Lucifer goes to the Basanos for a Tarot reading, first off, introducing them and Jill, who are more important later. After this, Lucifer decides that he wants his wings back, so he goes to the Realm of the Windowless Rooms, which is the realm of the Japanese Gods. Because of their power, the Japanese Gods are reluctant to give them back, so they plan to assassinate him. Of course, that doesn't work at all. He eventually gets them back, of course, and they're no longer demonic! Yay for him.

Meanwhile, back at Lux, Jill Presto met Cestis, a shapeshifting demon, and Mazikeen. With the assistance of the Basanos, Jill takes care of Cestis, and Mazikeen in the process. Mazikeen, who only has half a face, is revived by Jill, but Jill mistakenly thinks that her lack of half of her face is abnormal. Thus, Mazikeen becomes beautiful and "normal", but wishes to look like herself again. She's pissed, obviously, and pleads for Lucifer to change her face back to normal. He says he cannot, and because of that, she returns to her own race to become their Queen and General.

Lucifer, however, is working towards his own plan to escape his pre-destiny. Elaine is learning of the strange events surrounding her, and eventually discovers that she is the daughter of Michael. Michael is actually still alive, being help by a crazy-as-fuck angel who is trying to breed fertile angels. He wishes to use Elaine, since she's fertile, but that won't work out. Along with that, Heaven is preparing an assault against Los Angeles to end that final battle. Amenadiel is leading this assault. However, Lucifer comes to the rescue of Elaine and Michael, but uses Michael as a pawn. Because of the centuries of torture Michael endured, he wishes to be reborn. However, his death would mean a giant burst of energy that would destroy the world. With no other options, Amenadiel allows Lucifer to use a blank void of a universe to kill Michael and allow him to be reborn.

It was according to plan for Lucifer. This outburst of energy from Michael was enough for Lucifer to create a new universe. And so it goes in the Bible, it took him seven days. He even attempted an Adam and an Eve, but soon grew bored of that, and destroyed them. Humans were being drawn to the door to this new universe, as were Gods and other beings. Michael comes to tell Lucifer that God is so not pleased with this shit, but Lucifer, being the irl troll he is, is like "lol fuck that", and splits the one door into millions, allowing any into his new world.

In this new world, he only tells people that they are not to worship him, nor any other being. However, this new world is tempting to the Basanos, since in this world, they would theoretically be able to bear young. They revive Cestis and send her after Elaine. Meanwhile, the Basanos and Jill make their way into Lucifer's world and completely dominate it as Lucifer takes only a step into the world he knows. After all, time passes differently in Lucifer's world than in the world of his birth. 5 minutes can be 60 years, and a few seconds can be hours. To show their power and further cement the idea that the people of Lucifer's world must worship them, they nearly kill Lucifer.

Lucifer chats with Death, though he knows he will not die yet. One of Lucifer's friends from heaven helps him out, as a matter of fact. Meleos and Elaine save Lucifer, but at the cost of Elaine's life. Lucifer is able to outsmart the Basanos in the end, however, and they are destroyed and Lucifer keeps his universe.

The next, short little plot arc is about Remeil and other denizens of Hell wanting their former lord dead. Long story short, they fail because Lucifer is way too good for that.

So! This is where I am taking Lucifer from. He's alternating between running his bar and his cosmos, though more so his bar, since the cosmos is pretty self-sufficient now.

Reality Description:
So Lucifer's reality is technically divided into two.

There is the world that he was born/created in, first of all. It's the early 2000s (Maybe going along with the actual publication time, so 2003?), and Lucifer lives and works in Los Angeles. He opened a bar there, called Lux, which is one of the classiest bars in town. In addition, people are drawn to the bar, though they may not know why. He plays the piano at the bar, and has a variety of workers, whether they're friends/minions to humans who don't know that they're working for Satan.

Behind the wall of the Lux, there is a home of infinite size. In some parts, it appears to be like a medieval castle, and in others, it's like a classy Penthouse in decor and construction. It is Lucifer's domain, and where he is strongest, since the house is connected to him. He knows when any creature enters or exits, though he will often leave them to their own devices in his infinite home.

In here, there are is a gateway to the other world. This is Lucifer's world, the one he created from Michael's death. It was created in the same manner as Earth, though populated entirely differently. There are all sorts of creatures here, from regular humans to centaurs, since Lucifer opened his world to any that wanted to inhabit it. This world is already thousands of years old, since time passes differently there, but Lucifer is connected to his cosmos. If there's trouble, he knows about it. That does not mean he cares, however. It's his version of Paradise, in a way, since worship is forbidden, and people have thrived there more than they ever had in his Father's universe.

Now back to that universe. The universe of his birth is like our own, sure, but it also has some elements that we don't know about. For example, there are realms for different Gods and other powerful creatures. There are the Endless, for example, who are personifications of things such as death, dreams, and desire, and there are actual Gods. These Gods are not as powerful as the creator, but they do exist. There are the Norse Gods, Egyptian Gods, Greek Gods, etc. They each live in their own domains, having little influence over today's world. Lucifer is able, for the most part, to travel freely between them.

However, I will add this in here! For realityshifted, with the idea of realities, we can say that other people's realities fall in the area of domains that he is not allowed to enter, without permission. This is only in canons that have at least similar timelines to Earth as we know it, though. If you have a canon like Golden Sun, which is nothing like how our Earth developed, Lucifer would not know of these places, and thus not be able to travel to them. In a case like Darker than Black, though, he would, conceivably, be able to, but he would have to have the permission of that world's "Lord", whoever it may be.
