Character Survey of Doom (now prettified, to use the technical term)

APPEARANCE AND BODY PERCEPTION
Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Lucifer is a pretty tall and lithe guy. He's about 5'11" and on the thinner side for this height, though still well muscled. As the joke always goes, he looks very much like Mr. Bowie, so I always approximate him to having pretty much all the same physical attributes as David Bowie circa Thin White Duke. He's taller than Bowie, though.

How old is he?
In a way, infinite. Lucifer was one of the three original angels (along with Michael and Gabriel), so he technically kind of predates Creation, since he helped to make it. So really fucking old.

Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well, or does he slouch?
Lucifer always carries himself with a sense of arrogance, like he's better than anyone else. There's a note of rigidity to it, however—he carries himself very much like a prince. It works out well, since he was the Prince of Hell. He rarely slouches or relaxes his posture, and generally when he does, it's around people like Elaine or Mazikeen.

How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
n/a! He's a (former) angel, so he really doesn't get sick or have his health/appearance deteriorate. He looks extremely fit, but it's mostly for show. His muscles don't really do anything, since his strength is enhanced by the supernatural.

How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Lucifer moves very gracefully, though with purpose. There's definitely fluidity in his movements too, but it's nothing that particularly stands out—An average person would probably just think he's a person that's very aware of his own movements.

How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He's a 10/10, really. Angels are kind of the benchmark of beauty, and, well, he was one. He used to be very classically beautiful, like the perfect picture of angelic, but after Falling, he cut his hair short as a big "fuck you, dad." There's also a bit of androgyny in his appearance, but it's nothing extreme. Lucifer himself doesn't really care about his beauty, and mostly sees it as an inconvenience. He never uses it to his advantage, because he thinks it's cheap. He actually wishes he wasn't as beautiful as he is, just to distance himself from his angelic heritage, haha.

Describe his complexion: dark, light, clear, scarred?
He's not pale, but he's not really tan either. He's just sort of average white guy, complexion wise. There are very old scars on his chest and back from the fight before he Fell, but otherwise, nothing noteworthy.

Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Lucifer's hair is always kept short and clean, and impeccably styled. It would fall into that category of "you don't know how long it takes for me to style this to make it look like I just got out of bed." But of course, he doesn't actually style it, he just kind of makes it exist that way. And he's a blond, naturally, and a fairly light shade.

What color are his eyes?
Golden. Probably a similar color to his hair, actually.

Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
On occasion, he sports a pair of wings as it pleases him. They can take either an angelic or devilish form, though he tends to prefer the angelic one to piss people off/irony. In Asgard, he is constantly sporting a pair of classical white angel wings the traditional bat-like wings, since he can't will them away.

What are his chief tension centers?
I never really understand this question because I'm an idiot, so skip!

What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
After leaving Hell, Lucifer's wardrobe came to consist almost entirely of suits and other very high-class clothes. Generally speaking he's always wearing a suit of some kind, though they vary in their formality. this would be informal, to him, while his formal wear is a tuxedo. It's not rare for him to just wear a tuxedo on a normal day, though.

Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
All of his clothes fit very well, since all of his suits are tailored. Naturally. The Devil has to look good. Even though most people wouldn't be, he's quite comfortable in all kinds of suits, and doesn't feel restricted by them or uncomfortable in the slightest.

Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Kind of answered this in 12, but he does wear less formal suits in his free time, but still suits.

You knew it was coming: boxers, briefs, or commando?
Irrelevant. He's a Ken doll down there, so he probably just goes commando...

SPEECH
What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Because I will run with this joke until I die, Lucifer also sounds very much like Mr. Bowie, accent and all. The accent is just something he picked up as an amusement, since he liked the irony that the Devil would be British. Obviously it's an accent he puts on, so if he were to drop it, he would be truly without an accent—it would be something completely undiscernible to a particular place, and probably would have notes of many, many dialects.

How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He actually speaks somewhat slowly, like he's carefully picking every single word. Which he is! But his tone is almost always cool and detached without much intonation of emotion otherwise.

Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
he talks like david bowie... lmao...

What language(s) does he speak and with how much fluency?
Every language. No, really, he can speak every single language that ever existed in Creation. He is Lucifer, after all.

Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
He switches based on who he's talking to. He honestly has no preference or even a "base" language to return to.

Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Lucifer is perhaps the best impromptu speaker. He can be put on the spot and have the most eloquent speech you could imagine, as if he'd practiced it for weeks in advance. He does think carefully about his words and choices of words despite that.

Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
He's extremely eloquent all the time. No exceptions.

EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL
How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Again, this is one of those things where he is perhaps the most intelligent, and in every area. He's had time on his side to learn everything there is to learn, and he's capable of understanding an extremely complex philosophical idea and explaining it without much effort. In terms of book smarts, he's beyond comparison, and he's pretty good at street smarts too. His street smarts aren't as flawless as his book smarts, though, and he'll occasionally be thrown by some random idiosyncrasy about pop culture.

Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He's quite capable of both, but his strength comes from his time to deliberate. It's like Batman, where preptime is his super power, haha. He's more than capable of thinking on his feet, but when he does make mistakes, it's in this area.

Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Lucifer is a very rational and practical thinker. His emotions very rarely get the best of him, so he can approach every problem with a cool sense of detachment. Everything is a problem that can be solved with logic for him, since he has a lot of information about Creation that others don't. Essentially, he can see past things that are perceived as illogical to see the inherent logic in them.

What kind of education has the character had?
He's entirely self-taught, largely because the only person that could teach him anything is Yahweh. And fuck you too, dad.

What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Everything... However, he's especially interested in music, philosophy and literature. He's an expert in the mythology of the Devil, since he's kind of obsessed with how he's perceived. It's one of the things that he's not quite as detached from and can speak about passionately, though of course very eloquently.

Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
He's naturally an introvert because he thinks most everything isn't good enough to talk to him. What an asshole. That said, he doesn't have any problem being an extrovert! He just prefers not to be.

Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered, or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholic? Laid-back or driven?
Lucifer is very much an enigma. He perpetually line-faces and seems cool and withdrawn from events and people around him. He's very driven, yet also laid-back, and is overall very hard to read. This is very much on purpose on his part, too.

How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
lol what are new situations...
No, really, in new situations he approaches them as if they aren't new. He will act as if he has the upper hand (since he believes that he does), and is very confident about them. It would be very difficult for someone to perceive that something was a new situation for him.

Is he more likely to act or to react?
Act. Always. He's rarely caught off guard enough to have to react, so everything is carefully planned and orchestrated.

Which is his default: fight or flight?
Neither! If he's confronted, he'll stand his ground, but he won't fight. He'll fight if he needs to, and if it's more beneficial to him, he'll flee. Generally speaking, though, he'll calmly stand his ground because flight means wounded pride.

Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Lucifer is a huge fan of irony, and will use it and appreciate it when he sees it. Some of the things he does or how he presents himself are based entirely around a sense of irony. It amuses him. And surprisingly, he does have a good sense of humor. He's very sarcastic and witty, and won't turn miss the chance to be witty/sarcastic. He appreciates wit in others as well, and it's the quickest way (other than sheer intellect) to get in his good graces. As long as it's not offending him. Because then you're on fire.

Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If so, how does he deal with them?
skip...

What moments in this character's life have defined his as a person?
Without much explanation, since each is an essay in its own right:
- Creating Creation and questioning Yahweh for the first time
- Meeting Lilith
- The Fall
- Leaving Hell
- Creating his own Creation separate from Yahweh
- Deciding to "save" Elaine Belloc
- Micheal's death at Yggdrasil

What does he fear?
The short answer is "nothing." He doesn't truly fear anything. But he is very anxious and close to fearful about the concept that he has no true freedom or free will. It's his motivation behind everything he does.

What are his hopes or aspirations?
He truly has only one—To escape the predestination of Yahweh. He wants to be completely self-made and completely free.

What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about his?
He's very honest, but he doesn't like people to realize that he can be something-close-to-affectionate with people. He values his relationships that are a teacher/student dynamic, and can be very protective of people. It's something he hates to admit, though.

RELATIONSHIPS
Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
fuck you dad

Does the character have any siblings? What is their relationship like?
Lucifer has quite a lot of brothers, haha. All the angels are his brothers, though they've disowned him and he's perfectly happy with that. He's especially close to Michael, though, and is probably the only one that he has a true brotherly relationship with.

Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
His only other relative is his niece Elaine, and he's actually really close to her! He even acted as a mentor for her as she made her own Creation after taking in Micheal's demiurgic power. He already feels pretty protective and fond of her, though, even if he wouldn't admit it.

Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Nope.

Who is the character's best friend? How did they meet?
His best friend is, without a doubt, Mazikeen. She's the Lilim that has been by his side basically since he Fell. She's his confidante and the only other person that Lucifer considers close to him. They met when she was a child, and he was still known as Samael!

Does he have other close friends?
Nope. Friends are for squares.

Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Lucifer does not make friends easily at all, though it's a concious effort on his part. He doesn't want to be friends with people, so he generally doesn't give a shit about what he says to people. If he wanted to, though, he could be extremely charming and be friends with anyone.

Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Neither. Himself.

Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
It'sComplicated. He's technically single (and happy that way), but he does have a relationship with Mazikeen. The nature of that relationship is complex, but they are very close!

Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope, just Mazikeen.

Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Lucifer doesn't get crushes.

What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Lucifer doesn't look for romantic partners.

Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If so, how does he relate to them? If not, does he want any?
No.

Does he have any rivals or enemies?
More than can be counted! Nearly every god or other "immortal" being is his enemy, but the only one that truly stands out as a rival is Yahweh. He wants to rival Yahweh in every way possible and constantly fails at it, since, well, he's up against Yahweh. Others are still important enemies, but they don't even get close to the rivalry with him.

What is the character's sexual orientation? where does he fall on the Kinsey Scale?
Asexual. He has an emotional relationship with Mazikeen, but it's one that comes out of respect of her constant loyalty rather than sexual attraction.

How does he feel about sex? How important is it to his?
He can't have sex since he's a Ken doll... and doesn't care...

What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
See above two answers.

BELIEFS
Do you know your character's astrological sign? How well does he fit type?
LMAO he doesn't have one! And I won't bother to figure out which one fits him the best.

Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neithis? How important are these elements in his life?
This is a complicated question to answer, since his existence is based so heavily in religion, yet entirely separate from it. In The Sandman, all religions and gods exist, yet are all subject to God, Yahweh. By human definitions, he's not spiritual at all. It's complicated to explain, but he would be an atheist if he wasn't a part of it himself, haha. He doesn't bow to anyone, basically, and doesn't want to. It's a unique form of nihilism.

Does this character have a personal code of ethics or morals? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
He both does and doesn't. In a sense, his morals go by the "means justify the ends" mentality, but it's entirely self-centered. He will do whatever it takes to accomplish his own goals, which does come off as a lack of moral and ethical code. But he does have one, as proven by his refusal to lie or cheat. Again, it can appear that he does these things, though, because he's so manipulative and underhanded. So... it's complicated.

How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He's very tolerant, since he knows that they do exist and has the ability to see the larger picture. Even if he's unfamiliar, he can easily accept that they exist and that he just hasn't come across it himself.

What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational, or does he have a good reason for them?
He doesn't really like angels, lmao... I think they're pretty justified, since even after a really long amount of time they're still complete dicks to him when he's polite.

DAILY LIFE
What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
He doesn't go by human standards, haha. But if he's constrained to him, he's extremely rich, since he has been amassing wealth since the beginning of humanity, in a sense.

What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected his?
Again, doesn't really apply to him because it's by human standards where he exists outside of it. Let's just say that he has a social status of one, called "Oh Holy Fuck, it's Lucifer/Satan/The Devil." Which he has held for a reasonable amount of time.

where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He lives at Lux, lmao... It's the only thing that remotely resembles a home for him.

Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Music and tuxedoes.

What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Being Lucifer is his full time job, but he runs a ritzy bar and lounge called Lux in Los Angeles.

What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
He's a big music buff, and is very knowledgeable about both performers and performing himself. The piano is his favorite instrument to play, and he's not a bad singer, either. He really enjoys listening to jazz, blues and the Devil's music/rock and roll, though. Obviously he likes David Bowie for irony's sake.

What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He doesn't eat or drink unless it's part of a formality or ceremony. He has no need to, so he doesn't bother. He does like to drink, though! Alcohol is something he enjoys for the sake of being a classy bastard, haha.
